New Procedures for TN Visas at Matamoros Consulate

According to an e-mail received by AILA from the U.S. Matamoros Consulate, the consulate has changed its filing procedures for TN and E visa applications effective September 10, 2008.

All TN and E visa applicants must now first apply for an appointment online or by telephone. The Consulate will no longer accept any case-related documentation prior to the applicant's interview with the consular officer. An applicant must schedule an interview first and then bring the appropriate paperwork to the interview. An applicant can make an appointment by telephone by calling: 01-900-849-49-49 from Mexico; or 1-900-476-1212 from the U.S.

The Matamoros Consulate’s website still indicates that an applicant must submit materials in advance of the interview. Presumably, the Consulate has not updated its website yet to reflect this change in procedure.
