Scientific Technician/Technologist (Sci/Tech) TN Checklist.

In evaluating an applicant’s eligibility for TN status under the Scientific Technician/Technologist (Sci/Tech) category, consider the following check list of requirements for this TN category.

  • Does the Applicant possess theoretical knowledge in any of the following fields: agricultural sciences, astronomy, biology, chemistry, engineering, forestry, geology, geophysics, meteorology, or physics?
  • Did the Applicant acquire his or her theoretical knowledge through the successful completion of at least two years of training in a relevant educational program? Does the Applicant have evidence of this training in the form of a diploma, a certificate, or a transcript accompanied by evidence of relevant work experience?
  • Will the Applicant work in direct support of a Supervising Professional in agricultural sciences, astronomy, biology, chemistry, engineering, forestry, geology, geophysics, meteorology or physics?
  • Does the Supervising Professional have a degree in agricultural sciences, astronomy, biology, chemistry, engineering, forestry, geology, geophysics, meteorology or physics?
  • Does the offer of employment demonstrate that the Applicant’s work will be interrelated with that of the Supervising Professional? That is, will the Applicant’s work be managed, coordinated and reviewed by the Supervising Professional and will the Applicant provide input into the Supervising Professional’s own work?
